1) Women don’t take time for them selfs. They are last on their list of priorities.

2) Women can’t say No. No, when said by a woman, is not an answer but the start of a negotiation.

3) They prefix them selfs with “just.” I’m Just a mother, Just a wife, Just Oprah.

There are others but lets take these three.

1a) I take time for myself. My whole life is for myself. Most of the time I’m not even aware other people are in the room, I’m too busy thinking about myself. That is the joy of being childless/a sociopath.

2a) I’ve already said “No” to three people today, and it’s only noon. (See #1a)

3a) I’m just f*ing awesome!!

Sure it’s easy for me to criticizes (see #3a) and I know people have these problems, but I hate the way it’s made into a whole “woman are like this” thing on Oprah. It irritates me the way the sanitary napkin commercial that shows woman marching in the street to an empowering anthem “Ain’t gonna’ let no body turn me around, turn me around” irritates me. It’s insulting. Oprah will teach women to have a spine/be empowered so marketers can use that to sell us female products like tampons and vacuum cleaners. I’d rather that song was in a commercial for a big black strap on. The sad thing is I guess American women do need Oprah to teach them how to be A NORMAL HUMAN WITH AN OUNCE OF SELF RESPECT because the boost in woman voters Sarah Palin is pulling in shows a real problem with the gender in that (my… *sigh*) country.

EDIT: OMG OMG.. I found the commercial on Youtube!

Now

After taking two months to watch all 9 seasons of Roseanne (hence the video below) I’m into other things now. Here’s some of them.

Tripping The Rift is a sci-fi cartoon that I just discovered. It’s like Drawn Together meets Reboot. I’m not sure if Reboot ever made it to the US but I use to watch it in Canada all the time.

I haven’t watched many movies lately but I saw Half Nelson last night which was awesome! Juno was really good.. and I also saw the Bob Dylan movie I’m not There. I’m uncertain how I feel about it. I liked it, but it was so … David Lynch like without the David Lynch stuff. It didn’t have all the macabre, acid trip stuff Lynch does, but it had that kind of disconnected metaphorical thing. I understood that all these different characters in time and places where meant to represent different sides of him and times in his life, but meh. I love biographical movies. Even the crappy made for TV ones, and I wanted this to be a good one, and it is good, but not as a bio pic. It’s no What’s Love Got To Do With It.

I’ve been listening to Amy Winehouse a lot. I’m so individualistic. I know she’s a crack head and last years hottest Halloween costume but whatev. I’ve also been listening to Mos Def. He’s just so super cool. I love rappers with conspiracy theories. Glass Candy, which my brother recommended is awesome. Yann Tiersen is a favorite right now. Oh and the Curb Your Enthusiasm soundtrack is hot in my world.

I just finished watching both miniseries, “Anne of Green Gables” and “Anne Of Avonlea.” I haven’t seen either for 10 years or so, but they made me feel the same exact way they did as a kid. I still want to be her and live there, and by god… Gilbert is still dreamy! I think I can now say out of all the movies I watched as a child these are my favorite. I use to wear ribbons in my hair and ride around the neighbourhood on my bike reciting “The Lady of Shalott” Yeah, I was kinda lame.

I also watched the third installment from 2000, “Anne Of Green Gables: The Continuing Story.” The plot wasn’t based on any book that Lucy Maud Montgomery wrote. It was Anne in the middle of WWI and dealing with espionage. Funny how she meant everyone from Avonlea on the front line. There’s a new one coming out 2009. Anne fights off robots.

Hours wasted

I’ve been home for that past week preforming my wifely duties. Leaving the coffee maker on, keeping the cupboard doors in the kitchen open, buying food I’m too lazy to cook and letting it rot. My husband is the luckiest man in the world.

I’ve been watching a lot of movies the past few days. Some good some bad. Strangely enough four of them were about crossing dressing. Tootsie, Mrs. Doubtfire, Victor Victoria, and She’s the Man. “Tootsie” was on TV at 3 in the morning and I have to watch it ever time it’s on TV. It’s one of those comfort movies for me. “Mrs. Doubtfire” I watched because I hadn’t seen it since it since I was ten. “Victor/Victoria” was also on TV late at night. Julie Andrews is also a comfort to me. There’s this movie she was in in the 60’s called Thoroughly Modern Millie which was an obsession of mine when I was little. I’ve seen that movie a hundred times. As a result I feel the need to watch things she’s in. I’ve even seen The Princess Diaries. Although not a hundred times. “She’s The Man” was recommend to me by this guy on the Internet. He said it was not as bad as it sounded, and that Amanda Bynes had really great comedic timing. I agree to some extent. It’s not AS bad as it sounds.. and Amanda Bynes does have talent.. but meh. It’s pretty bad. Other non cross dressing films I’ve seen the last few days. Pick Up Your Ears, War of The Roses, Desperate Hours, and Dirty Love. I had seen all but Dirty Love before. I was really excited about this movie because it was Jenny McCarthy and I love her and her fake boob, bleached blond, playboy playmate, burping and farting schtik. The movie was cute.. but she could have done so much more. Although the menstrual bleeding in the store, and the grabbing and shaking her vomit covered boobs was good too.

I love having a movie channel. I love the feeling of just randomly coming across a movie to watch at any time of the day. For some reason it gives me way more satisfaction then going to the movies or renting movies. It’s good when they are old movies too. at least 10 years.

Oh crap! I can’t believe I almost forgot to mention the movie I saw tonight. Call me: The Rise and Fall of Heidi Fleiss. I love TV movies with all my heart, and this was ok. It was no Lifetime TV movie. I wounder if you can buy a box set of Lifetime TV movies. Oh my Gosh you can! Lifetime Movies. Baby for Sale looks really good.

Now I’m all misty eyed for the great Television shows I was raised on. Who’s the boss, Mr. Belvedere, Golden Girls. I’ve spent so much of my childhood watching TV. I’m like the real life Cable guy.

Meh

I wrote a long post earlier but it bores me know.

I’m staying in Nora tonight. I’m tired but I’m going to force myself to go for a walk and not stay up till 2 in the morning surfing the god forsaken Internet. Ah… I watched the new episode of “The office.” last night.

Lord beer me strength!

That show is great.
